WILSON MCDOWELL

Project description

This proposal is to provide a series of prototypes for the emerging issue of sea levels rising. It aims to elucidate how life on land can continue by shifting to an artificial floating landscape that minimises the impact on the surrounding ecosystem. This will alleviate the displacement of people from the land they are connected to through the creation of an artificial landscape that has a positive association with the rising sea levels.   The edge condition between land and water in the year 2100, will evolve to be between the edges of watercraft and the new landscape, rather than the pre-existing forms of rigid streets and lot boundaries. The physical arrangement is defined by the currents and the new modem of transport by watercraft and therefore, the arrangement becomes a haven for a community of sailors or for the ‘artificial land nomad’.
