The Window Seat is a project focused on the the study of film and filming techniques to create an apprecitation and understanding and alter the viewing experience.
The aim of the project is to design a temporary cinema that would be the interaction and gathering zone for audiences during the Biennale Film Festival on Cockatoo Island in the Sydney harbour. The cinema would be a multi-purpose pavilion that would recreate a virtual experience and aura of being in a film festival. The cinema turns itself into a mini convention center during and after the film fest.
The temporary cinema is envisaged to be a multi usage interactive area for the spectators, flexible enough to handle a wide variety of activities on a moderate scale.
I’ve summarised my design process in a way that compliments the film industry. Firstly by choosing the main character, next by placing this character in a setting, then by creating conflict for the character based on its purpose and its setting and finally by allowing the character to overcome this conflict through a design resolution.
